Top 5 Tuesday Seventy-Six

Since people were harping on the 'music only' theme of the top 5s, i have combined 2 media together into this week's topic. My picks include a lot of funky jams that can also stand alone as their own entity. I've also covered a few of these with past and current bands, proving the longevity and popularity of these great theme songs. The only thing i ask this week is that nobody cops out and lists pre-existing songs as a theme song, ie: Who songs for the CSIs, etc. Cartoons are totally valid, and there are way more good ones than you initially think (i narrowed mine down from 10), so give'r!

Top 5 TV Show Theme Songs

  1. Sanford & Son. Dirty. More Cowbell.
  2. Magnum P.I. The shit.
  3. Fat Albert. Funky funk.
  4. Dukes of Hazzard. The twang-a-lang.
  5. The Jeffersons. The gospel.

p\s whats plans 4 friday nite...any?

Posted by: batman on March 16, 2006 11:20 AM

justine, you are right. it is joe cocker's version of a beatles song that starts the show. what the captain was trying to say all along was that it wasn't written to be the show's theme, which excludes it from the list, no matter how fab it is. i love The Who, but i'm pretty sure they didn't write Who Are You and Won't Get Fooled Again for CSI!

Posted by: scotty on March 16, 2006 09:45 AM

thats it im watching the box set 2nite-i can hear the beginning in my head and all i hear is joe cockers version...maybe im wrong as well as the internet :) XOXO

Posted by: batman on March 16, 2006 08:59 AM

Big Love.

Posted by: Matty on March 16, 2006 08:13 AM

Posted by: batman on March 16, 2006 08:12 AM

far out, gay. his debut album came out that same year - '69. justine, you've heard of the sgt. pepper album, right?

Posted by: scotty on March 15, 2006 06:45 PM

A little help from my friends was Lennon/McCartney from Sgt. Peppers 1967....Cocker covered it. I believe at Woodstock was the first time?? That was in 1969.
