I'm back with a semi-not-as-often post, but seeing as it's a top 5, she's all gooooood. Self explanatory title; please try not to cry into your keyboards as you lament over what could have been within the live rock stratosphere. 8-|
Top 5 Live Concert Regrets
Honourable Mention - On behalf of my friends from the mid-90's - Missing the Grateful Dead on Fall Tour in Toronto - because Jerry died in August. I thankfully caught 2 Dead shows from that last summer tour down at the Palace in Auburn Hills, but many of my friends weren't so lucky, and were banking on the Toronto show to be their first.
"So shes leaving..."If I were still living in London I wouldnt of had the opportunity to make it to The Trews concert in Sarnia last nite!!Took my hot mom and got smashed then to the Duck(sarnia bar)and met The Trews b\c...I dont know if the captain recalls but the nite of Plant concert in London when mom n I went 2 Brass afterwards 2 watch McFly we hung out with dudes from Nova Scotia who turned out to be friends w\the drummer from the Trews(Trews opened for Plant for those of u who didnt know)Anyways super hot guyz and super talented on guitar..pretty impressive really and even played some Zeppelin\Stones\Hendrix and 3 dog night xoxo
The best sub E-V-E-R. Thanks again brother.
Posted by: The Captain on December 18, 2005 04:04 PMwell well ...i just have some comments about the stereophonics /bowie concert for the capt and scotty if it werent for you you and the capt getting royally ripped that night i would have never had to take care of the capt by carring him home that night and thus getting the mr submarine guy to keep his door open late enough for the capt to have probably one of the best subs he has ever had in his tradgic life. he can testify to that ...
as with the radiohead concert capt ...i just have to say that past the flq and the meech lake accord...it still pays to have french canadians as friends so they can buy you tickets to montreal shows who have their own power grid..
Killer, i'd love to police the shit, but my home system is doon again; had to quickly drop by the captain's to dive online for a minute! I'll be back on soon i hope........ love scotty.
Posted by: scotty on December 16, 2005 12:53 PMVagina-shut the fuck up!I forgot!
Killers just jealous b\c its not Eddie Vedder up there b\c hes too stingy to give a helping hand!
Pretty sure ScAtty knows whats best...a dose of Zeppelin news every once in awhile wont kill anyone it'll do ya some good. xoxo
As if he put the wrist band on n everything then ripped it off meg I would of SNAPPED!!
1. REGRET AGREEING TO SEE THE TRAGICALLY HIP.... 5 times.... damn you gary, damn you... you ruined some good new years eves with that shit.
2. Regret being the chick front row in the mosh pit at edgefest who Courtney Love dedicated her used tampon to.... "this one's for you chicky" as she points, then pulls it out and tosses it in my direction.... (i duck... i don't think it needs to be said that i did not lunge to catch it).
3. Big Day Out - missed it in Aus by one frickin day, all day outdoors line-up of about 20 solid bands, janes addiction, foo fighters, wilco, queens of the stoneage, you am i... argh.
4. Radiohead at the ACC... too stoned to fully appreciate the experience... and too busy concentrating on not falling down the intensely steep steps with no railing, from the grey section to my food at the concession stand (about 5 trips per hour). I've made up the concert since.
5. G.Love n the special sauce - HOB Disneyland, tiny venue, cheap tickets, standing outside and having the bouncer put a wristband around my arm, getting so excited that i was getting in.... only to have him rip it off 4 minutes later and announce it was sold out, get out of here... sitting outside staring at the building... sad day.
She's spamming the normal shit because she knows nobody gives a shit about the Zep blog!
Scotty, you must police this nonsence!
BTW, missing seeing my friends play at New Years! I will drown my sorrows w/Absinth and expensive Russian whores!
\m/
Isn't there a Zeppelin forum for you to post this drivel in?

For those of you that werent fortunate enough to receive my warming email this morning regarding Jimmy Page being awarded with the OBE(order of the british empire)being recognized for his charity work on behalf of poor Brazilian children. And of course the fact that he plays a huge factor in that Zeppelin are "one of the great pioneers of rock" and awarding them w\a cheque for 1 million kroner(almost $125,000 US)being the 2006 Polar Music prize winners...previous winners over the years included;former Beatle Paul McCartney, violinist Isaac Stern, rock musician Bruce Springsteen, conductor Pierre Boulez and music producer Quincy Jones...hmmm no Pearl Jam yet eh?weird...xoxo
Posted by: batman on December 16, 2005 12:08 AMand why didnt you robynator??
whats ur friends band that played recently @ call the office?I wish Vicksters n I made it to that.
I wish I wasnt going to see The Trews this Saturday b\c The great white(BEST Zeppelin cover band)is playing @ the Industry I think it is!F*#K
Even Robyn n Katrina have seen them perform in BC..:( I'll have to plan my month visit accordingly
here's two that i can think of quickly
-ben harper used to play with jack johnson at my university before he got real big but i never went to a show. i did catch a single jack johnson one though.
-lucinda williams at stanley park this summer. i wish i wish i wish i had gone
1. Chains,anytime anywhere...should've found a way...
2. Motley Crue/Ratt, Shout at the Devil tour 1983, CNE coliseum....my dad probably wouldn't have let me go anyway, but it's nice to think about
3. Cult/G'N R...Electric/appetite tour
4. Corey Hart, CNE Stadium grade 6....had front row seats, the fucker cancelled on me.
5. Police- Synchronicity tour...sold out while my dad was in line buyin' tickets....would've been my first big arena show.
captain must date alot i dont think ive ran into 8 ex's in the past 23 years!!
I feel bad now Chilli-I had Snoop tkts few years ago when he made an appearance in Sarnia, my friends got them for me as a joke but a bunch of us were going-I bailed cuz I didnt think Id make it thru the night in a room full of people and not one single zeppelin fan!:)Gave it to my lil cuz for his bday...turned out the show was amazing and 2 of my friends got backstage 2 meet him!
Regret not staying for the show after meeting and listening to Backstreet Boys soundcheck-if only Gordo worked 4 the hawk so I could of at least met bands of interest...
Rosa~lick my ballz!!Plants part of Zeppelin, and I love Zeppelin its all in loving the band!Im sorry you claim 2 be 'too good'xoxo
Chilli, here's a tidbit of info. my "step" cousin moved to LA for a while in the 85- 89 era....just so happened to date Axl before the big appitite album. truth be known i believe she was rippin, so it only makes sense.
and justine, why would i want to see a 65 year old man who forgets his lyrics and does'nt have Jimmy Page on guitars???????? boring
Posted by: Rosa on December 14, 2005 08:45 AMCaptain...8 ex's at one show? It seems you are drawn to chicks that are always depressed...I mean who fucking goes to a Ryan Adams show anyway, except for people that need that extra push into committing suicide! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
Posted by: Killerov on December 14, 2005 06:07 AM1. yes, yes, the Stereophonics
2. yes, yes, Radiohead at CTO
3. yes, yes, Lollapalooza 1&2
4. Getting wasted at Tom Petty this summer, even though I had a pretty good time, I wish I hadn't got THAT drunk...damn guitar beers...
5. Ryan Adams this summer--I ran into 8 (yes 8) ex-girlfriends at this show. After running into number 3, I decided that intoxication was my only escape. I was holding up the fucking building by the end of the night. I heard the show was shitty anyway.
It seems like my age is the main reason I missed concerts I would have died to attend. Damn you 1980 birth!
1. Guns n' Roses - My step brothers introduced me to GNR when I was 8 with Appetite & I was 11 for the Illusions. Even though Axl was my childhood crush, I couldn't justify seeing a concert after the Spaghetti Incident.
2. Blind Melon - I was 12 for this one so 'out of town' concerts still weren't an option in my dad's mind.
3. Snoop - It is SHOCKING to me (as well as the people I know) that I haven't been to see Snoop! The Doggystyle album came out when I was 13, so the gangsta concerts were not on the list of acceptable activities. The Up In Smoke tour was the first one I could have gone to, but alas... I was in Australia. I definitely need this to happen.... soon!
4. Lollapalooza - My sister was lucky enough to attend the PJ, Soundgarden, RHCP show. A few months later I realized what I had missed. The London PJ show this summer did take some of the pain away though.
5. Ben Harper - I had tickets to this show in the summer, but Scotty ended up getting a gig so the tickets were passed on. The kicker was hearing about how great it was after the fact!
Posted by: chilli on December 13, 2005 09:44 PMRobert Plant and the Strange Sensation in October @JLC w\The Trews opening....oh wait I went and it was "UNBELEIVABLE"('Your unbeleivable duh duh..') :) Unfortunatly I had no friends showing interest in joining so I brought my mommy!!So really Scatty, Justin, Steveo and Vagina-this should be one of your regrets!!! xoxo
Posted by: batman on December 13, 2005 09:35 PMIt's about time you got off your lazy ass and did your top 5...only 9 more sleeps until I'm back in the L.
1. Spacehog - Winter 1996 at Call the Office, was still underage at the time (just barely), so I did not go, only to find out after, that it was all ages. BOO!
2. U2 2005 Tour - Montreal. I was there, they were there, I just didn't have $300 to spend on a ticket. :(
3. Jack Johnson - August 2005 in Vancouver. An outdoor show, sold out in minutes. Didn't even have a chance.
4. NIN - Michelle and Mandy went, had a pretty horrible time in the cold rainy weather, but it still would have been great!
5. Kickstand Travolta - unfortuantly the band was no longer together by the time I had heard about them. Heard many great things - wish I could have seen it. Guess I just have to settle for the CD.
Posted by: Pauls on December 13, 2005 04:40 PM1. 2005 Canadian Tour - Missed because I live/work in Moscow!
2. 2003 Binural Tour - Missed because I lived/worked in fucking Baghdad!
3. 1994 Pink Floyd Pulse tour - missed because my good friend/flat mate died in an accident...the tought me everything I know about picking up chicks! Miss ya Mark.
4. Nirvana - never really hit our area after I got into them
5. Metallica Praha 2004 - didn't have anybody to go with...I should have just went and rocked out anyway.
Posted by: Killerov on December 13, 2005 10:16 AMMissed ur top 5's buddy!good 2 have ya back xoxo
#5-Bedouin Soundclash-just this past saturday @ call the office..could of used Gordo for tkts but I was stuck in states shopping longer than anticipated.
#4-sarah maclachlan-mom got free tkts this past summer had to close @ crabbys :(
#3-Tom Petty-was dating a guy in highschool that got a limo for bunch of us to go and I broke up w\him week before concert(i had obviously forgotten about the concert-IDIOT!)
#2-Neil Young-played in Sarnia of all places..my dad but I had to work.fuck I should of just QUIT!
#1-The remaining Zeppelin trio-they were playing in Detroit or something and friend\co-worker @ Kokomos loves them just as much as me,but sold out(obviously its zeppelin!) :(
honourable mentions w\stories of almost no go's:almost didnt go to the walkerton watershed shindig few years back b\c of work called in sick b\c i didnt wanna miss Joe Cocker!!:)
almost didnt make it to aeromsith n kiss 2 years ago either b\c friend i was going w/was fighting w\her ex and she was bawling..so i threw her in the car and said 'get over him'and we drove off!!their still dating now..causes for funny story now tho!
and lastly..almost didnt make it to SARS fest, drove to meet bus @6am w/just enough gas got there realizing i seriously didnt have my tkt(bought it like 2 months prior)had to turn around and drive home(15 mins)made it back..concert was amazing except for the heat factor and expensive water..after concert took wrong exit and got lost had to use chineese mans cell..got back to bus 2 hours later..walmart parking lot back home got in car exhausted n sore and didnt have enough gas to even start it..had to walk 3 blocks and back w\jerry can!:)
The Fairmonts on a regular basis like old dayz b\c of stupid work n weather!
bri man's #5 seems hot! not to mention the radiohead cto show, and while i'm at it MMW on a monday night cto as well mid-90s, and neil young in hamilton and at molson park during 90s! shit. \m/
Posted by: scotty on December 13, 2005 12:27 AM1.Radiohead - Call the Office July 24 1995
What was I thinking....
2. Paul McCartney - someday this icon will stop touring and I still will be too cheap to fork over the mega dollars to see him .
3.The Lollapalooza's .. looks like something we can all agree on
4. Green Day - JLC -May 4 2005.... not sure why I missed out on tickets for this show.
5. The Fairmonts - Every Thursday Night! I really need to quit my job so I can go out more.
1. Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power tour. i had, actually still do have, the tickets. the night before i went to some party just on the outskirts of town, where my one buddy who was accompanying me, stumbled at some point blowing out his knee. long story short, i ended up calling everyone i knew, with no takers. seeing Pantera by myself with my seventeen year old frame was not an option!
2. Neil Young, with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden - not sure why it didn't happen, all my Saunders friends went.
3. the Lollapalooza's - all of 'em especially the Chains one, their last tour! may i burn in hell!
4. Chilli Peppers/ STP - 1st when they ended up in TO. not sure why i didn't grab tix. and second, my buddy Rob, ended up buying tickets from some girl who didn't want tickets she had won, to see STP at the Kool Haus for the Molson Canadian Simul-bash in july many years ago! he called, i was at the cottage, sister gave me the message that night! i think that's why i hate her..lol
5. TOOL - i have no idea why i have never gotten tix. it mystifies my to this day thinking about all the times i've known they were coming and just never doing anything about it. why, why, why!!!
Posted by: Rosa on December 12, 2005 09:20 PM1 - 4 Bruce Springsteen in Fenway Park 2003. I will be bitter until I die that I couldn't get tickets.
5. Nirvana & Smashing Pumpkins played at a multi-venue multi-band festival thing-y in Boston in 1991 after Gish was released, but before Nevermind had been. I was late and ended up only seeing a School of Fish. Not a good trade off.
