Top 5 Tuesday Sixty-One

So as the theme goes for the week, all the Halloween stuff is being played out, so i see no reason not to do the same! What movies really scared the shit out of you? Let's go with Top 5 Horror/Thriller Movies. I added the thriller option since i know several people who are too scared to even attempt a horror but perhaps have watched a thriller or two between their hands. Just make sure someone died or got killed or something to qualify it here!

Top 5 Horror/Thriller Movies

  1. Evil Dead 2. 'It's so funny and violent, and the soundtrack kicks fucking ass.' My first favourite horror movie remains a classic of the genre. Army of Darkness would be a close companion piece.
  2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (old & new). Just some good old creepy, broken down car, lost in the woods being chased by a guy with a chainsaw and skin mask type of fun. Always gets me.
  3. The Shining. To this day, the hotel hallway scenes when the girls just appear from nowhere and the kid is riding the bigwheel around scares the bejeesus out of me. Little kids are creepy. And so is Nicholson losing his mind. A Kubrick classic.
  4. Nightmare on Elm Street. The first grade school party movie that everyone had to see. Nothing like a room full of young teenage girls screaming their heads off and a roomful of guys not knowing what to do with it. Oh the shame. :)
  5. House of 1000 Corpses. Rob Zombie does a nice job bringing the 'disgusting' and 'repulsive' aspects back to the horror genre after it appeared to be heading more to the 'thriller' direction of late. Also some nice tips of the hat to the classics.

Honourable Mentions - These films score high marks in the 'most creative deaths' department. Saw had a fantastic premise, and over half the movie was awesome. It fell victim to some major overacting in the second half and sadly became laughable, until that killer final scene which set the stage for.... Saw II! Hopefully they get it right this time. Also, Final Destination I & II have the craziest death scenarios i have ever seen on screen! Definitely worth a watch if you can get past the 'teen scream' genre they are supposed to be a part of.

Damn!
Poor make-up artist who had to shave that for the shot... LOL!! Batman... You have balls too? So unfair. Poor Patrick. If he just learned to laugh at himself he could be the Adam West of a new generation.
Big Love.

I generally find horror movies either funny or annoying - I kno - I suck! BUT For sum reason, the movie "Gothika" scared the bejesus(sp) outta me! No-one else seems to have been that colded over by it so either it's me or that immediately after I was done watching the movie (alone)... I shut down the TV, leaving the room completely pitch black except for the light under the doorway to the outside stairs (live in a basement apt). Well, what should happen but the light should start flickering violently... Watch the movie if you don't understand. Fixed my nonscaring wagon.
Big Love.
PS. The Shining and Ring did both raise my pulse substantially :S

1. JAWS: I am to this day still uncomfortable in open water...fresh or salt.
2. Poltergiest: "There here!"
3. The Exorcist: Creepy fucking shit!
4. Blair Witch Project: Mainly the tent scene and the end in the house.
5. Nightmare on Elm Street: Ya sure Freddy's pretty funny now, but back when I was a kid I didn't catch his sarcasim.

Sleepless in Seattle is one of the finest movies ever made. But why, why did you have to remind me about the Notebook catastrophe???

Posted by: metal vagina on October 26, 2005 01:34 AM

1. Beaches
2. Love Story
3. Love Actually
4. Sleepless in Seattle
5. Titanic

Hon Men: Anything with Richard Gere. And the Notebook looks like the scariest fuckin' movie ever...Vagina?

totally unrelated....but....
let me hit you with some knowledge.....hilarious

courtesy of Earl:

As I go through life, fixing my mistakes one at a time, I’ve learned a thing or two about Karma, and part of keeping good Karma is sharing it with others. I hope these notions help you as much as they’ve helped me.
Do good things and good things will happen to you. Do bad things and it will come back and bite you in the ass.

If you want a better life, you need to be a better person.

Bad luck might be contagious. It wouldn’t be fair to bring someone into your life until you clean yours up.

Never underestimate the power of confidence. And never underestimate fifteen beers, a little enlightenment, and the power of Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock.

A person needs a little rest after having his moustache tickled at a gay bar.

You have to do the hard things in life sooner or later.

If you want the reward, you have to do the work.

The secret to life is fixing all the bad things that you’ve done.

Whether picking up trash, returning stolen merchandise, or helping a homosexual find love, it always has the same reward… feeling good about yourself.

Karma. You got to love it.

1, 2, freddys coming for you,
3, 4, better lock your door,
5, 6, get your crucifix,
7, 8, better stay up late,
9, 10, never sleep again.

1. IT - so scary when i was little that to watch it, i had to leave the room for awhile, then come back to it multiple times
2. Pet Semetary - Pets are not supposed to be scary (the same goes for Cujo)
3. Leprechaun/ Chucky - Little creatures/dolls that come alive freak me out
4. Halloween - The guy just wont DIE, and he's so solemn it's creepy
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacres - Had me kicking at the back of the seat in front of me, and landing in the lap of the person next to me

Hon Ment: Freddy's funny, I love him but he doesn't scare me, Ankle Biters - sucked, but too funny, American Werewolf in London (the original) weird, funny and creepy, Candyman/ Wishmaster (I only) both good... i could go on forever, i'll stop.

I love scary movies, but heres some that did keep the pillow near my face...
Nightmare on Elm Streets
The Birds-Oh wow!The master of suspence ventures into a realm of horror with the depiction of a world in which nature can go suddenly, terrifyingly mad.
Pet Semetary-Had me second guessing that burrying our 'family pets' in the backyard was sucha good idea.
The Others
Candyman
-Off topic for a second-saw Elizabethtown last night-WOW-incredible Cameron Crowe choice again and the soundtrack kicks ass!-

Friday the 13th - of course the early ones,
Shining- as a kid all i can remember was that lil boy riding his 3 wheeler down the halls, i didn't know it was the shining till many years later
Night of the Living Dead - the 80s version, the first horror movie i saw, and coincidentally the first set of boobs i saw in a movie aswell....mmmm zombie boobs.
The Ring - had me not lookin at the TV once i got home
Dawn of the Dead - lightning fast zombies!
28 Days Later - a very scary realistic premise
and of course- Elm street, Corpses, Chainsaw (especially the McConaughey, Zellweger version), and well.... Shaun of the Dead, just cause it kicked ass
