This one is very straight forward. Everyone has had one, most still do. They range from cute to funny to degrading to just plain appropriate. The beauty of the nickname lies in the story behind it, so please feel free to elaborate. Any time period is fair game.

Posted by: Justine on July 20, 2005 11:36 AMMine are so boring, it's almost embarassing to post, which is why my suggestion for next weeks Top 5 Tuesday is "Nicknames you have given other people". There I am far more interesting.
Anyway here goes:
1. Aiminator
2. Amylicious
3. Amykins (or sometimes just 'kins)
4. Amsicle
5. Aimala

Posted by: amy on July 20, 2005 11:09 AMVagina you forgot "Slobber" :)
Thought of u the other nite kid..at Blockbuster and noticed they have "Vagina Monologues" for rent!!
1. Vagina, Vag, Wee and any other derivatives....most here know the story by now, if you don't Ass Captain will be glad to fill you in on it's origins.
2. Metal Chris....the longest standing nickname, which is also the forefather if you will to the previously mentioned Vagina.
3. Snerk...A simple misspelling of my last name on my apartment buzzer led to this one, which still gets brought out among certain circles.
4. Sherk the Jerk....a relic from my public school days which led to recess chants of "Christopher Sherk is a Jerk" and the such.
5. Vagina Puppet Man....While technically a derivative of nickname number one, I feel that this one is of such quality and calibre that, while not frequently used, it still deserves its own spot on this list.
Honorable mentions to Homo, Loser, Pussy, Fucker, Dickhead, and any other diss which gets used in place of a nickname after a few brown pops have been consumed.

OK, initially I didn't think I had 5 nicknames, but thanks to my dear sister I've been able to muster up five pseudonyms...in no particular order.
1. "Angle Patch" - Initially acquired in residence during 1st year university when signing up for name plates for our doors. Apparently they couldn't read my writing, and got Angle Patch out of Angela Paton. I've since had letters addressed to Miss Patch, sent to me at work after the sender misinteprets my signature.
2. "Kathy Bates" - Another university-derived moniker. This gem was given to me by a guy who was apparently wooing me. We were sitting at the bar, and all night he kept saying that I reminded him of someone, and then BAM, it hit him - that girl from Misery?!?...Kathy Bates!! Of course! Thank you Alix Beck, I will never date you!
3. "Paton" - see Chili's "Little Paton"
4. "GR.8beej" and various other names that hint at the giving of beej's at a young age - OK, technically this isn't a very common nickname, but Nat and others who know my coloured past, often like to point out the fact that I was a whore in gr. 8.
5. "Lambie" - Ironically, once I hit high-school, I morphed from the "GR.8beej" into "the lamb" (according to my girlfriends) and didn't lose the big V until I was 22!
Thanks for the cool topic Scooter ;0) ^8^
Posted by: skin pants on July 19, 2005 04:39 PMi agree with nat, nicknames are usually for the boys, but that being said:
1. 'Twinkie': dubbed by "the co-op"
2. 'Bubble Face', 'Bubs', 'Bubfa' and any derivations from that: after spending 3 hours in TO at a conference just trying to figure out what the hell some guy with a very strong accent was talking about, 'bubble faces' being one of his terms
3. 'Private Pants': touring europe with only one pair of pants left after i tore one pair and another was stolen in a hostel
4. 'Boobs': being the only girl in a group of guys in waterloo, i am still known as boobs by these fine people ;)
5. 'Snorty Face': a term of endearment(?) from my parents and relatives that's lasted since i was a baby
runner-ups: megsalicious, gub bug, bibs
Posted by: meg on July 19, 2005 02:40 PMThe nicknames are always a difficult one for the ladies. Guys tend to refer to eachother using a nickname, or is all else fails... the last name. This is one of the many reasons I despised eating lunch in the high school cafeteria. I hated being present for all of the loser jocks entering the caf screaming eachother's last names, banging chests and measuring dicks!
As for my nicknames...
1. 'Little Paton' - Shockingly enough, this name was given to me by Lucas jocks who knew my sister. Instead of just calling me 'Paton', they added the 'little'... because I'm younger than my sister... pure genius!
2. 'Nate Dogg' - Derived from my lifetime obsession with Snoop.
3. 'Slieve/Gieve' - I'm not quite sure how this name came to be, but Becky and I have been using it since we were 18.
4. 'Scotty's special lady' - This is a popular one for Rosa - male nurse.
5. 'Chilli' - This one is definitely the winner! I think Scott has only used my actual name twice in his life.
Posted by: Chilli on July 19, 2005 12:34 PMkiller, i thought that you and pauly were going to keep the nickname 'meat tower' between you and his 'bad self'
- this is a great nickname as you can see it demonstrated in a very typical situation. self can also be spelt: slef, fles and my personal fav sfle. we never use elfs though as that could be related to some grammatical faux pas and the boys and my 'bad fles' (there we are again) ain't at that level. we're still working our way up.
- guymandood - makes a fella feel like a real man times 3.
- punk - go ahead and use it freely, it can be used in any context. the word just sounds good. punks.
- metal wee - story too long to tell folks. for those who do know the meaning, it somehow just, fits.
- setalo jozsi - hungarian for josey walker. a great nickame to use for prank calls to girls all around the world. and also good for reserving a table at noiret in the smoking or non-smoking sections.
Hustorony, when are you going to come and start playing hockey on monday nights. we have to get warmed up for the tourney here in budi in october.
Posted by: radkin on July 19, 2005 11:45 AM1. Killer: I know you all want to know how it came about, but I save that story for special ocasions...the impromptue air guitar contests, slaps across the face from friends and their girlfriends and the goon hockey playing just excentuates the origin.
2. KD: Short for Killer Dave, aquired on the mean streets of the 8th district in Budapest.
3. Killer Deeeee: Aquired from Mr Kentish in Budapest and a favourite amungst his fellow 'English' blokes.
4. Hustorony: Hungarian for "Meat Tower"....nuff said.
5. Davey Crockit: I think everyone named David went through this at one stage.
Scooter, just when I think you are going to post yet another stupid topic...you totally redeem yourself.
