MMVAs 2005 - We're Canadian, we get it!

I happened to catch a bit of the MuchMusic Video Awards last night before crashing out and was less than impressed. I had been reading how so many international artists and celebs had been requesting to be on the guest list as well as on the performance or presenters list, and how each year it becomes more on par with the MTV awards.

This may one day occur, if we can finally get over ourselves! In watching just over half the show, i lost count of how many times the veejays were like, "So how do you like Canada?", "What do you think of our country, our fans, our food, our blah blah blah?" You never hear that crap on the MTV awards, except of course the requisite flag-waving during wartime and whatnot. Perhaps it's due to the fact that we still use the veejays as the hosts and alongside the famous presenters, or the fact that it just seems like a fan screamfest regardless of the artist, celeb or award being presented.

I did rather dig the Arcade Fire performance, and fell asleep before the Killers closed the show. Perhaps i can catch them during one of the 18 encore airings clogging up the regular programming this week. Anyone else catch this mess?

Unfortunatly I missed the live airing of the MMVA's and have missed any encore performances thus far. I had every intention of being home on Sunday to watch the MMVA's, but a beautiful day in Vancouver and a fuckin' AWESOME street festival took up my entire day.
I do want to see the show in all it's glory but alas I have a life. ;) By the sounds of it, the show was just like every other year, just some different faces. I would have liked ot see Arcade Fire perform. Where have they been hiding? Hmmm...
It's to bad I missed the Killers too. I dig those lads. I highly reccommend the album to all!
Peace out!

Big Love.

Nuttin beats the Brit Awards.....not for the music, but they set it up like a cocktail lounge. The stars get loaded up waiting to get their awards!
