Top 5 Tuesday XIV - Back from the Big Smoke

Good day, all. First off, thanks muchly for the birthday wishes. Good times were had by all, many beers consumed, and no arrests were made - we talked them down to a fine. Welcome to my Carlsberg years, everyone. I hope nobody expects a more mature, refined blog now that i'm old n' busted, 'cause it ain't gonna happen! Silliness will abound for years to come. Speaking of, this week's entry is a tad silly, which in my mind is a good thing. This week i bring to you... Top 5 Names in Music. What we are looking for here are names of musicians, not bands, and they can be actual or stage, as long as they are "cool". And since everyone's definition of cool should be all over the map, we should have some great names here!

Top 5 Names in Music

  1. Leighton Beezer. This name just melts off your tongue. A member of several bands from the Pacific Northwest music scene, Leighton was featured prominently in the incredible documentary Hype!, which chronicles the rise and demise of the late 80s-early 90s Seattle rock movement and it's key players. A must-see for any fan of rock music.
  2. Rivers Cuomo. It's all about the "s" on Rivers. And of course Weezer rocks as well.
  3. Nikki Sixx. A very symmetrical use of the double k's and double x's. Nice, clean, easy to spell when drunk. The male/female option on the first name is a nice touch as well. An all-around great rock name.
  4. Engelbert Humperdinck.
  5. Apt. Q258. Drummer for Aquarium Rescue Unit. It's his real name, i swear.

You guys forgot local Toronto singer songwriter Royal Wood (www.royalwood.ca) Amazing singer songwriter kind of like Hawksley Workman and Sarah Slean. I am pretty sure it's his real name too.

Jack Breakfast is also pretty cool....

Sorry to miss you on Fri. Finn - Smoked with the roommates got up to leave and one of our cats started screaming and dropped dead. We were all freaked so we smoked more and hung out together.

I can't come up with 5, though I'm bound to after I've posted this comment! It shames me that I've had to resort to the Eighties, but so far I have:

1. Englebert Humperdink. It's a bit more exciting than Arnold George Dorsey, no?
2. Jimmy Nail.
3. Feargal Sharkey.

Hey Finney, whassup? Glad to hear your birthday went well... OLD N'BUSTED!! haha. Anyway, here goes.

1. Frank Zappa - Frank is not so cool, but I would love for my name to be Zappa. I don't know if his kids are in the music biz, but if they are they get the honorable mentions - Moon Unit and Dweezel

2. Busta Rhymes - cheesy, yet still more creative than most.

3. Tre Cool from Green Day - Green Day rocks (they're old n' busted too)

4. The artist formerly known as Prince (the Symbol) = you can't get much cooler than that

5. Shania Twain - it's fun to say. Shania, Shania, Shania.
